More than a billion (yes, with a B!) people use Facebook every day. That means that, as a business, we need to get smart and strategic about how we use it to gain visibility, credibility, fans, and clients.
Today, I want to give you some tips on using Facebook to help with marketing, visibility, and getting results.
1.) Save a Post
When it comes to curating content, scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed is extremely useful if you use this feature. If you find an intriguing article that you would like to share, read later, or use in your own posts of curated content, you can click the little arrow to the right of the post, opening a dropdown menu. In that menu, there is an option to save link or save video.
This saves these posts in one central location. To find them again, simply click your home button and look at the menu on the left side. About halfway down you will see ‘Saved’ – this is where your saved posts live.
2.) Pages to Watch
If you would like some benchmarks, ideas, or just knowledge about how your Facebook page ranks among other brands, similar or not, the ‘Pages to Watch’ feature is awesome. Businesses can follow up to 100 different brand pages, allowing for a quick comparison of page activity (filtered by top posts over the previous 7 days), engagement, and audience growth.
To access the Pages to Watch feature, go to your page and click Insights.
After you are on the Insights page, scroll down a few sections until you see Pages to Watch.
Once you find the section, start adding pages that would be worth watching to this list. After they’re added, hover over the name, click, and watch the magic happen. Facebook provides a detailed view of every one of their posts from the current week. This allows you to quickly check the top posts from every page you follow in a matter of seconds.
3.) Tag Personal Profiles to Get More Engagement
This is a question we’re often asked: HOW do I tag someone from my business page? There are many reason you would want to do this, but doing it will massively increase your engagement.
Here’s good news: you can TAG personal profiles on your page posts with this neat trick!
Go ahead and write a post on your page. After you've posted it, go to the post and click on the downward-facing arrow on the top right corner.
Click on ‘Edit Post’ in the dropdown menu. In the editable text field, type @ and the person’s name, just like you would tag a person normally on Facebook, and this will bring up suggestions for you. Once you have tagged the right person or company, hit ‘Done Editing,’ and they will get the tagged notification!
4.) Mark All Facebook Notifications as Read
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the staggering amount of notifications you get on Facebook? Especially if you have a personal profile, a page, a group, etc.?
As of now, Facebook will not allow you to simply turn notifications off. But there is a simply solution to notification drowning. Mark all notifications as read!
Here's how: go to your page settings and click on ‘Mark All As Read’ in the top right corner!
5.) Like a Page as Your Brand
A great way to gain some visibility, and to show a little support towards other brands on Facebook, is to like their page from your business page. This is something that many people forget about doing, but it can go a long way in building up partnerships, support, and visibility.
This nifty little feature allows marketers to support their favorite brands from their own business page.
To like another brand from your business page, search for the page you want to ‘Like’ and go to their timeline. Then, click the small gear icon and select ‘Like As Your Page.’
All of the Facebook pages that you manage will appear in the dropdown menu, and then you can pick the right one, click it, and abracadabra, you have liked that page as your business page!
