Do you have fantastic business cards?

Yes, we know, who, in today’s world uses business cards? The answer should be you!

Let us make the case for why:

How many people do you encounter, engage with or do business with each day, that have no idea what you do or how you might be able to help them? Building a successful business means making connections everywhere you go! Being remembered can be as simple as introducing yourself and leaving a business card in their hand. (This is low hanging fruit here, people!)

We will cover all the creative ways you can capture attention using business cards in our next post, but for now, let’s use the ones you have to start building connections with those around you.

Here are some places to consider having and handing out business cards:

1. Service places.
Your dry Cleaner. Your hair Salon ( or barber, we all know men do not go to “salons”, right? ) Your car service shop. Your nail salon. Remember to engage not just to those working but to those using the same services. You already have common ground- I mean you share the same mechanic- what better introduction do you need to start that conversation? 🙂

2. Hotel gyms.
Hotels with gym or workout facilities are tops on our list. Arm with yourself with business cards- and make a connection!  Put all your workout gear into a small pouch and come prepared to make the most of every opportunity.

3. Airline travel.
Speaking with fellow passengers is a smart move during the temporary, cramped and usually annoying confinement.  But, don’t forget to interact with the flight attendants when time allows. Just stop a moment and consider the number of people in their connection sphere and where it could take your business!

4. Dental or Doctor’s office. (Or even your Vet!)
Everyone sits, waiting anxiously in the waiting room. What a perfect time for a conversation. (Provided you are not sick and coughing germs onto everyone within 30 feet of you). Be sure you introduce yourself and engage. This is about a connection, not self-promotion.  But, make sure to have extras for others in the room companions and-  the staff- again imagine how many people they know and encounter. You are creating opportunities for yourself!

One tip : Always avoid passing out cards with deletions or changes made in pen- remember that a business card is often your first and lasting impression,  and that is not the type of impression to leave with connections or potential clients.  But, hey, business cards are inexpensive- so, when your information changes, just order new cards. 🙂

Carry your business cards when you leave your house or office. Whenever you are possibly going to be waiting among other people. Of course have them with you while shopping and vacationing, so that you can make those lasting connections!

Some of our favorite business cards are from Moo Cards. Check them out here www.moo.com

We like their creative options, nicer quality and glossy colors. Definitely worth looking into as you decide which cards work best for you.
